Norton Core: Secure, High-Performance WiFi at home

Your home network was not designed for the Internet of Things. It needs a home Internet Security Firewall. Norton Core is a leading player in the fast moving space, providing a high end firewall (other contenders include CUJO and Bitdefender Box).

Norton Core has a lot going for it. One is that it is backed by one of the most recognized brandnames in the cybersecurity world, Symantec. Symantec provides special intelligence feeds to the device to ensure it is always doing its best to protect your home network. It is like having the best and brightest minds in the cybersecurity world at work protecting your home.

Core is easy to set up, and once it is running it will inspect every packet that comes into your network and look to see if it is malicious. If it detects an intrusion it will take action to block it. It protects against hacking, viruses, malware and many other threats.

Core also gives parents powerful internet monitoring and control capabilities so child use can be strictly controlled and secured.

On the negative side is cost. At $249.00 it is a bit pricy. This cost comes with one year of service, and then after that service will cost $10.00 per month.

Note: you probably already know this, but it takes far more than a simple addition of a piece of hardware to a network to make it more secure. You also have to operate it securely and should consider reviewing our list of best practices at: Protecting Your Home from the Cyber Threat
